Technology

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Murray City School District is proud to announce a new digital classroom initiative for all K-12 students wherein ALL students will have their own device to better engage, share and participate in a collaborative learning community. Technology has become an essential part of education; it gives students access to information and resources, enabling them to pursue their interest in their own way and at their own pace.

Our students and staff have been using Google Education Suite and Google Apps collaboration tools since 2017. These tools allow direct access to instructional content, assignments and the ability to electronically submit work while also collaborating in a safe and structured manner. They provide access to many web-based educational tools to create stories, concept maps, edit videos and develop visual presentations.

Google is not the only digital approach we use toward learning. Our teachers have learned a vast array of programs in a very important step toward developing a modern learning approach. These tools will support the 21st Century skills surrounding the 4Cs: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Critical thinking.

Safe and Secure Environment

Murray City School District takes the security and privacy of student information very seriously. MCSD’s Google Apps for Education comply with legal requirements for safety and security under the Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA), Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The district is responsible for protecting and safeguarding the confidentiality of student information. We have contracted with Google to provide access to tools for our users (students and staff) in a closed and secure environment. Google Apps is governed by a detailed privacy policy and security measures that MCSD has reviewed thoroughly. Our district is satisfied that these policies protect the privacy of our users. Under their Terms of Service Agreement, Google is obligated to comply with FERPA, therefore advertising is not displayed within MCSD Google Apps, nor is data in any Google application in use by MCSD students scanned for commercial purposes.

Please note, our digital classroom environment is a district-managed service. For the protection of your children, District administrators have the ability to monitor and audit the contents of student accounts.
